What a great evening! And thank you to my good friend Laura who invited me to show my work alongside pupils and alumni of Sedbergh School at a concert at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester to mark the 500th anniversary of the founding of Sedbergh School.

It’s a great space and with 2000 people attending the concert, there was no shortage of interest in pupils’ art and my furniture. I had taken the Ambrose console, Artengill mirror, a couple of Japanese toolboxes and a nearly complete whisky cabinet for the School. I met up with lots of old friends and former pupils who were very complimentary and kind about my work.

There were hilarious moments; the humourless traffic warden who resolutely refused to allow me to unload from the specified parking place, three ladies who asked if they could use my mirror to fix their make-up and thereby skip the queue for the loo, and the 14 year-olds who thought they were on to a good thing tasting the whisky, until they discovered it was cold tea!
All in all a great evening in a wonderful venue.
