Working with wood has been an unplanned constant throughout my life. Childhood sailing accidents fostered emergency woodwork skills. At school, a stern teacher with one thumb drilled us in safety, the proper use of tools and joint work.
Sometime later, as a young teacher in a large school I discovered an under-used workshop and new opportunities to learn from time-served craftsmen. Life presented a constant flow of projects in the years that followed.

In 2022 I spent eight months at Waters and Acland Furniture School whose generous tutors shared their extensive skills and wealth of knowledge. Amongst many other things it confirmed my intention to open my own workshop.
Alongside my own work and commissions, I have started to teach woodwork in a local school.
