LONG, HOT, CROWDED & LOUD
An early start and crowded trains to Blackheath where thousands of cheerful runners were gathering. The first three miles flew by until congestion built where the different start-streams converged, from there it was a loud, colourful scrum until the end.
The temperature and the noise from 800,000 spectators built as the day wore on. After 6 ½ miles Cutty Sark hove into view, and five miles later Tower Bridge; the highlight of the route.

A long loop around Canary Wharf put 20 Miles on the clock and a temperature of 22C. That took its toll so that the Embankment was littered with fallen runners.
Big Ben was a welcome sight and the final 200 metres up The Mall was suffused in a wave of emotions; excitement, achievement and relief.

I was supported in London by the outstanding cheer teams of the British Heart Foundation, friends and family. And together we raised over £9000 for the British Heart Foundation.
